MARK ZIMMER

Born and raised in Munich, ND, Mark Zimmer continues to call the small northeastern ND town home. Zimmer graduated from Munich High School in 1980 and attended North Dakota State College of Science before returning home to farm with his two brothers. In 1990 they decided to expand their existing carpentry and plumbing business and opened Zimmer Plumbing and Home Center in Munich. The following year , the opportunity to open Langdon Building Center took place, adding a second lumber yard to their endeavors.
Zimmer has been managing Langdon Building Center full-time for the past 16 years and quit farming in 2008. He served as treasurer of the North Dakota Retail Lumbermen’s Association for 16 years and currently serves on the board of directors. He keeps active in the community and is currently mayor. He has been involved in many organizations, including the Cavalier County Job Development Authority, Munich Commercial Club, Munich Bowling Association and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoys bowling, golf, traveling, Sioux hockey and Bison football and attending his kids’ activities.
Zimmer and his wife, Kyza, are the parents of four children: Dustin, who lives and works in Grand Forks; Griffin, who attends NDSU and plans to return to Munich to farm; Elyssa and Cooper, both students at Munich Public School.
